Our Story

12th State Design Co. began as a way to serve a gap in the real estate market by providing a boutique home staging experience designed to help potential buyers step into a property and envision a home. Katie’s seven year background in interior design gave her the confidence to take on her first staging project in 2019. Since then, she’s staged hundreds of Triangle area homes. From making her first inventory purchase (a few pieces of furniture and accessories and art borrowed from her Durham, NC home), to curating enough furnishings to fill a 5,200 square foot warehouse, 12th State has quickly grown from Katie and her van to a powerful team of designers that can stage 20+ homes per month.
